Birth Cohort

Numerous diseases can be traced back to adult life in the womb and their parents' exposure to environmental and occupational risk factors. Exposure of parents to chemical, physical and biological factors, especially during pregnancy, can lead to complications in the fetus that can endanger the offspring if they are born. Parental exposure to harmful agents can transmit these unwanted effects to children for generations. The cause of many diseases in adulthood such as cardiovascular disease and childhood diseases apart from congenital problems (such as obesity and hyperactivity) are rooted in early life exposure. Therefore, in order to have a better understand these complications in Iranian children, as well as to examine more accurately the fathers' exposure to unwanted complications in their workplaces, as well as to determine the relationship between environmental exposure and complications, this study was performed on a selected population of mothers and fathers in Yazd and their births. The main purpose of this study was to determine occupational, environmental and lifestyle factors in prenatal, fetal and childhood and their effects on birth defects and health outcomes during fetal and elementary life of birth and maternal health during pregnancy.
