General Laboratory


Medical students in the physiology laboratory acquire the necessary skills in the following techniques.

-Principles of work in the laboratory environment: Familiarity with the microscope, familiarity with physiological solutions.

-Hematology tests: Tips on blood sampling for physiological tests, hematocrit determination test, erythrocyte sedimentation test, blood cell count test, blood expansion test, blood coagulation test, blood type crossmatch, hemoglobin test, blood indices.

-Cell, nerve and muscle tests: osmosis test, vertebral skeletal muscle contractile activity test.

-Cardiovascular tests: determination of blood pressure, electrocardiogram recording, how to calculate the mean electrical axis of the heart by echophasic method, tests related to frog heart.

-Respiration and metabolism tests: Working with digital and blue spirometry to check lung volumes and directions, maximum respiratory capacity, basal metabolic rate measurement.

-Gastrointestinal tests: Evaluation of gastrointestinal movements with sympathetic and parasympathetic mimics and the effect of temperature and pH.

-Types of neural reflexes.

-Urinary tract tests: Urinary tract function tests.

-Endocrine tests: Glucose tolerance test, genital tests (Bufo test, sperm analysis).
