History of Infectious
Infectious Diseases Clinical Ward was established in 2001 with the opening of
the Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in Yazd, with 16 beds in an adult infectious
diseases ward, and practically started working with the first group of interns.
In 2015, the building of the Infectious Diseases Ward was reconstructed and
renovated at the request of the then director of the hospital, and the number
of beds increased to 26 beds (8 isolated rooms with two negative pressure
isolation beds and 9 double-bed rooms). The Infectious Diseases Ward started
with 4 faculty clinicians and currently has 6 faculty clinicians. Since 2011,
the Infectious Diseases Ward has been regularly training 3 Specialty residents
in Infectious Diseases and since 2022, one Fellowship resident has been
responsible for the prevention and control of nosocomial infections.
Infectious Diseases Research Center
affiliated to Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Yazd has
started its activities since 2003 with the cooperation of professors and
researchers. The activities of this center mainly include research on
prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control of infectious diseases. From the
beginning of its establishment until now, the head of the center is Dr. Jamshid
Ayatollahi (full professor and infectious disease specialist) who is working
with a group of specialists in the field of infectious diseases to achieve the
goals of the center. Fortunately, with the help and active cooperation of
researchers and scholars of this center, it was approved in 2014 by the
Development Council of the Ministry of Health.
Since 2018, the Infectious Diseases Clinical Training
Ward of Shahid Sadoughi Hospital in Yazd has been responsible for training and
treating the coronary heart disease pandemic in the province.
